FOOD & DRINKS

Adelaide River is steep in WW2 history and the naming of the ‘303 BAR’ reflects this history. The 303 rifle being the weapon of choice by the Australian Army in WW2.

Pub and Bistro

The “303 BAR & Bistro” is located in the main building directly behind the PUMA service station amongst the shady trees, outside dining area and tree shaded beer garden, a great place to sit and relax while the children play on the lawn surroundings. The “303 BAR” is no fancy cocktail bar; it is an old style country pub with a lot of history, charisma and charm. There is cold beer on tap, bottled spirits, beer and mixed drinks in stubbies or cans plus soft drink. The Bistro serves old country style favourites and modern style meals. Famous for its local wild caught barramundi, another dish worth trying would be the buffalo.

Within the building you will find pictures and memorabilia of the pub’s and town’s history. “Charlie” the buffalo made famous as the buffalo Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan) hypnotizes to the ground in the movie Crocodile Dundee can be found standing proudly at one end of the bar. “Charlie” was an Adelaide River resident until sadly passing away in the year 2000 of old age; he is fondly remembered by NT locals, travellers and movie buffs alike.

What visitors are saying:

The 303 Bar is a Musty !

Had heard many things about the Inn and it was a pretty pleasant stop for an early B’fast from Diggers Bistro. Pretty basic fare but the bacon & egg roll hit the spot even though it gouged a hole in the wallet ! The bistro had a fairly large selection of meals available and all made fresh. Self serve coffee & tea was quaint! The bar was open but a bit early for me I’m afraid but still had a look around and it does have a lot of character and maybe next time I’ll get to have a few cold ones ? The beer garden area was a nice spot with heaps of tables/cover to enjoy a spot out of the sun. Well worth a drop in !!!

Best chicken parmigiana ever

Lovely old pub at the front of the caravan park where we stayed in Adelaide River. Out door dining in the garden or under the veranda was very pleasant. The chicken parmigiana was the best we have ever had on our travels around Australia. Beautiful moist chicken breast with tasty sauce and melted cheese, all served on a bed of well cooked chips. The salad bar had lovely fresh salads which topped the meal off nicely.

303 Bar is awesome! Cant go past without stopping!

The 303 bar is awesome, so much Australiana crammed into one pub which makes for an awesome atmosphere to enjoy a cold drink!

Great Barramundi feed.

Had the best feed of Barramundi, chips and salad here. It looked great on the plate and tasted even better. The salad was from the salad bar so just help yourself to whatever you want. The Barra was cooked to perfection so it was a 10/10 meal.

Well organised & a great lunch

I organised a trip to the Adelaide River War Cemetery for 57 people and we decided to have lunch at the Adelaide River Bistro.

After a chat to staff well before hand, we arranged for a lunch list of names & the dishes they wanted sent through the day before. When they arrived they mentioned their name and payed for their meal and sat down in the Bistro area to eat it.

This is an iconic venue and a must visit, particularly for the Water Buffalo in Crocodile Dundee. It has been preserved and is mounted near the bar. Superb!!
